Big Rig Crash Forcing I-20 Detour Near Sweetwater 9/28/12

Near Sweetwater - TXDOT crews are continuing to work on repairing a bridge overpass near Sweetwater that is forcing a detour at I-20 and US-84.
Thursday night, an 18-wheeler crashed into the bridge's support columns, causing extensive damage over the westbound lanes of I-20.
Westbound traffic is being detoured to US 84 around the crash scene and then back to I-20. The detour is about 3/4 of a mile long.
TXDOT tells CBS7 that they are assessing the damage and there is a possibility that one westbound lane of I-20 could be re-opened late tonight.
The driver and passenger in the 18-wheeler were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
