Midland City Council voted for a number of service improvements to solid waste services during the second readings on September 25, 2012.
The optional $.50 litter abatement charge was made mandatory today and increased to $1.00 in a bid to increase beautification efforts throughout the city. Approval was granted in a 5-1 vote and will take affect October 1, 2012.
Other changes include an access fee of $25 for private (non commercial) access to the waste site. Director Williams notes the unnecessary hazards faced by citizens & employees and hopes this will encourage residents to utilize the free citizen collection center just north of town. Approval was granted in a 4-2 vote and will take affect October 1, 2012.
Commercial services will have unlimited access to the waste facility with a yearly permit and fee of $500.
