Discussion On Repurposing Sports Complex Tax 09/25/12

MIDLAND, TX – Tall City leaders are beginning the discussion on repurposing a tax that is paying a project off ahead of schedule. According to City officials, Midland’s Type B tax currently being used to pay off the Scharbauer Sports Complex is paying the project off ahead of schedule thanks to increased sales tax revenues. At that point City leaders could do away with the tax, however some city council members are discussing leaving it in place to help fund the park system. Repurposing the tax would first have to go before voters. City leaders believe the sports complex will be paid off by 2016.
