Possible Changes For JBS Parkway To Be Discussed 9/23/12

(Odessa)- New changes could be coming for one of the major streets in Odessa.
Odessa City Council members will discuss at 6:00pm Tuesday on authorizing the use of eminent domain to facilitate further construction on John Ben Shepperd Parkway.
According to the Odessa American, council members will look at a resolution to use eminent domain to obtain right-of-way easement on 11.38 acres of land needed to extend the street.
Mayor Larry Melton says this decision would cause major changes for drivers.
Mayor Melton tells CBS 7: "We're going to have to re-route it and the easiest and most economical way to do it is go south on JBS Parkway and the council is considering doing that."
The Odessa Development Corporation agreed in May to fund $1.6 Million to extend JBS Parkway south from Interstate 30 to FM 3503.
The O-A reports that " Grow Odessa", formerly Odessa Industrial Development Corppration will fund $800,000 of the $2.4 Million dollar project.
