Pressure on Romney to Spend More Time Explaining Plan 9/23/12

UNDATED (AP) - The presidential candidates have been taking a break today, leaving the campaign pitches to surrogates.
Mitt Romney hasn't made any public appearances this weekend, but has been attending fundraisers in California. Tonight, he'll go back to a public schedule, with a speech in Denver.
After a difficult week in which a secretly recorded video emerged showing the GOP nominee saying half of Americans are dependent upon government and see themselves as victims, Romney is under pressure to spend more time explaining his plans to voters.
But, the Republican party's chairman maintains last week was a "good" one for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. Reince Priebus (ryns PREE'-bus) tells ABC's "This Week" that Romney and his backers "were able to frame up the debate," which he says boils down to "what future do we want?"
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama's top strategist says fresh campaign ads from the Romney campaign attacking the president miss the point. Also appearing on ABC, David Axelrod says Romney and his team "haven't offered ideas about how they're going to lift up the country."
