ODESSA, TX – An Odessa woman who is trying to stop soaring rent prices says the responsibility falls in the hands of local City leaders. Nicole has started a petition urging City leaders to put a cap on rent prices. She tells CBS 7 that she has spoken with representatives with Governor Perry and Kel Seliger’s office who tell her that City leaders do have the power to regulate rent. She tells us that City Government can declare a local manmade disaster, which this situation falls under, upon approval by the Governor the City would be able to implement rent control.
