Dallas Tx. - A former Dallas firefighter has pleaded guilty to robbing a city bank by first apologizing to a teller before taking money from her - and then handing her a tip.
The U.S. attorney's office in Dallas says Jesus Ventura pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery Tuesday. The 37-year-old Ventura faces a maximum of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 10.
Authorities say Ventura robbed a Chase bank in west Dallas in April. They say Ventura confronted the teller by holding up a black backpack and raising his voice. She eventually gave him the money.
Ventura then allegedly took a $20 bill from the cash and handed it back, telling her, "Here is a tip for you."
He was arrested by Dallas police shortly afterward.
