FedEx Delivery Truck Driver Crashes into Family's Backyard, Charged with DWI 9/18/12

The Odessa Police Department responded to a call of an accident in the 1100 block of North Dixie Boulevard involving a FedEx delivery truck. Upon arrival witnesses reported to police that the driver of a FedEx truck was traveling south bound on Dixie Boulevard when it lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic. The driver then struck the east curb line of Dixie Boulevard and crashed into a cinder block fence at the residence of 1200 East 11th Street. The driver then backed the vehicle out of the fence and drove away from the scene.

Based on information provided to the officers at the scene an attempt to locate was broadcast and officers located the vehicle traveling north bound in the 3800 block of North Dixie Boulevard. The driver matched the description given by witnesses at the scene. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Benjamin Leon Minton, D.O.B. 05/13/1985, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanor ‘B’ and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
