While the iconic Wagner-Noël Center has hosted world class performing arts and artists, such as Rod Stewart for the Grand Gala opening performance on November 1, 2011, the impact of the Center is broader in scope. Beyond the glitz and glamor of the shows themselves lies the financial impact the Theatre is having on the surrounding community. “When Kenny Rogers busses roll in on October 11th, so will visitors from across West Texas,” states Erik Wortendyke, the General Manager of the venue. “Rogers is among one of the biggest names we’ve hosted,” states Wortendyke. There will be 48 hotel room nights required for the artist, his band and road crew. Furthermore, the promoter will employ twelve members of the local stagehands union. Additionally, there will be catered meals, visits to restaurants, gas stations and hopefully visits to attractions around the community.
The $81 million Wagner-Noël Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of University of Texas of the Permian Basin, encompasses over 108,000 square feet including the 1,827 seat performance hall.
