Monday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist

Sunny skies are expected to prevail across the area through much of the day. A few clouds may drift into the region late in the afternoon. Highs will top out around 90 for much of the Permian Basin. A few locations in the Upper Trans Pecos and the Presidio Valley will see highs in the mid 90’s. Winds will be out of the south at 5-10mph.

A large complex of storms is expected to form over SE Colorado and NE New Mexico this afternoon and drift SE through the Texas Panhandle overnight. This complex of storms may clip the northern parts of the Permian Basin tonight.

A cold front will drop south into the region overnight, bringing strong north winds to the region. Expect overnight lows in the upper 50’s. However, the front and the associated highs winds will make it feel colder. Be sure to grab a coat in the morning. High temperatures will top out in the upper 70’s to lower 80’s in the wake of the frontal boundary.

Dry air will filter into the region behind the front and temperatures will begin to climb through the end of the week. Highs will reach into the mid and upper 80’s on Wednesday and Thursday. 90’s are possible by Friday.
