PHARR, Texas (AP) - A 16-year-old Mexican national driving a suspected stolen vehicle was hospitalized after he tried to crash through a booth at a border bridge in Pharr and was shot by police.
Pharr Police Chief Ruben Villescas says the teenager was in a pickup truck Friday afternoon and tried to get over the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge. He rammed a vehicle in front of him that was carrying a family, then tried to flee when an officer attempted to stop him.
Villescas says the officer shot into the door of the pickup, wounding the teenager.
