Trial Date set for Texas School Coalition Lawsuit 9/12/12

AUSTIN, TX - As Ector County joins the list of chapter 41 property wealthy school districts several other property wealthy districts in our area are listed in a suit against the state that is headed for court in October.
Called the Texas School Coalition, 60 school districts joined a lawsuit last year claiming the state school finance system violates the Texas constitution.
Several other school coalitions followed path and a total of six lawsuits were filed against the state.
A trial date has been set for October 22nd in Travis County, where District Judge John K. Dietz will hear each suit and come to a decision.
Mark McDonald with McDonald PR, representing the Texas School Coalition, believes the suits will ultimately go to the Texas Supreme Court for a ruling sometime next spring.
