MIDLAND, TX - Today at the Hero Blood Drive in Midland, west Texans remembered 9/11 by giving the gift of life.
September 11th is a day marked in history for the fall of the twin towers and the loss of thousands of American lives.
" That happened [September 11th] and then everyone started talking about the service and serving their country. It was kind of what pushed me into it [military service]... 9/11," said Anthony Lehman, first time Blood Donor.
After 8 years of service, Anthony Lehman a military veteran is serving the community in a new way, by donating his blood.
Donors say that by helping the community they honor those who lost their lives on September 11th.
"They’re still suffering until this day because some are permanently damaged, so any little bit helps. So by giving my blood, it's a huge way of being able to help somebody else," said Maribell Munoz, a Blood Donor.
Now 11 years later, the day that is marked by tragedy is now springing forth life and a new sense of patriotism.
