ODESSA, TX - Ector County Commissioners are one step closer to settling their first environmental lawsuit.

The commissioners initiated the process yesterday by approving a certain dollar amount during their closed-door executive session.

The civil lawsuit, against Alberto Garcia for dumping an oil-water mixture on the roadway, is the first lawsuit to be sent to the Texas Attorney General's office from the county's new Environmental Enforcement Agency.

Judge Susan Redford says they cannot disclose the dollar amount until the state publishes the settlement in the state register.

The state is involved because the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality was also listed as a plaintiff in the suit.
