Big Spring Police Make Four Arrests In Vandalism Case 9/10/12

CBS 7 Staff Reports

BIG SPRING – Big Spring Police have arrested four men in connection with the vandalism of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Nicholas Lee Sharp, Kevin Logan Towner, Devan James Cook and Anthony Lewis, all 17-years-old, were all arrested and, according to police, were charged with “criminal mischief church/cemetery/public building,” which is a state jail felony. Sharp, Towner and Cook were also charged with tampering with physical evidence, which is a third degree felony.

The vandalism took place back on August 26. However, police were called back to the site when most of the stolen property had been returned to the site and was left outside a maintenance shed at the memorial with a note. The note apologized for the damage done to the site. The stolen items were dusted for prints but none were found.

A Crime Stoppers tip lead police to the four suspects. Each was interviewed one at a time. Three of the teens admitted removing fingerprints from the stolen items before returning them.
