CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago's mayor says he'll work to quickly end a teachers strike in the city.
The teachers union decided to walk the picket line after failing to agree to a contract with the Chicago school district.
Meanwhile, school officials are making plans to open more than 140 schools until 12:30 p.m., so that students can have breakfast and lunch. And the district is asking community groups to provide additional programs for kids.
