MIDLAND, TX- Tomorrow Midland City Council members will vote on a water rate increase. The rate increase would happen in stages and would affect the cost per thousand gallons between 2.5 percent to 37.78 percent.

The purposed rate would have a 7.36 percent increase for residents that use less than 10,000 gallons of water per month. The largest increase would be for residents that use more than 25,000 gallons of water per month. They would see a 37.78 percent increase in cost.

City council members say this proposed water rate increase would help with the Colorado River Municipal Water District’s recent price increase. The CRMWD cost is increasing from $1.65 per thousand to $2.39 per thousand, which reflects a 44.5 % increase.

Paul Davis Oil Field cost is increasing to 25% increase, which is a source of water for the City Midland as well.
