Sunny and Warmer Today 9/10/12

Monday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist

Mostly sunny skies can be expected across West Texas and SE New Mexico today as high pressure aloft builds into the mid-section of the country. Temperatures will climb back into the upper 80’s and lower 90’s for most. A few locations in the Presidio Valley and Upper Trans Pecos could see highs in the mid 90’s. Winds will be out of the SE at 5-15mph. Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.

A strong cold front is poised to move into the area on Thursday. This will halt the days heating in the mid 80’s for the Permian Basin and around 90 for the southern counties. Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected along this front as it moves through.
Warm air in the mid levels of the atmosphere will continue to run up over the colder surface air that moves into the area. This pattern suggests that Friday will be cloudy and cooler. Rainfall will likely continue as well. Expect highs only in the 70’s on Friday afternoon. Winds will remain out of the north through Friday night.

Rain chances may still linger a bit on Saturday morning. However, conditions are expected to improve on Saturday afternoon. Skies will be sunny by Sunday. Highs will return to the mid 80’s late in the weekend.
