Washington - Democrats at their national convention in Charlotte, N.C., will be adopting a party platform today that's in sharp contrast from the Republican blueprint the GOP adopted last week.
The Democrats are calling for higher taxes on wealthier Americans and they're backing same-sex marriage and abortion rights.
Also, first lady Michelle Obama will make a case for her husband's re-election when she addresses the Democratic National Convention tonight.
On Thursday, President Barack Obama will accept the party's presidential nomination for a second time.
