Car Bomb Hits US Vehicle In Pakistan 9/3/12

Associated Press
September 03, 2012

Penshawar, Pakistan - A powerful car bombing attack on a U.S. government vehicle in Pakistan has killed at least two people. And police say 19 people were wounded.

Police in Peshawar, in northwest Pakistan, say the vehicle was rammed by a car packed with explosives after leaving the U.S. consulate today. A police explosives expert estimates that 240 pounds of explosives were used.

A police spokesman says the two people killed were Pakistanis.

A U.S. Embassy official says two Americans and two Pakistanis working at the U.S. Consulate are among the wounded.

There have been scores of bombings in recent years in Peshawar, which is near Pakistan's tribal region. It's the main sanctuary for Taliban and al-Qaida militants in the country.
