Midlander Dies from West Nile Virus 8/29/12

MIDLAND, TX - A Midland County resident has died from West Nile Virus. Midland Memorial Hospital officials confirm that a person died from the virus yesterday afternoon. According to the hospital’s Infection Control Specialist, the person died from Neuroinvasive West Nile. This is the second confirmed death in the Permian Basin due to the virus.

The first death in West Texas was reported in Andrews County last week.

Medical Center Hospital officials tell us that they have treated eight people with the virus.

The ages of the patients range from early 20's to mid-80's.
