UPDATE 5:34 pm
HWY 285 south of Fort Stockton is open again.
UPDATE: 4:20 pm
The following is an update from TxDOT officials:
Highway 285 south of Fort Stockton is still closed. An 18-wheeler is blocking entire roadway as well as the west side right of way. if absolutely necessary, light trucks and cars can drive around truck at their own discretion on the east side but the embankment is too steep for large vehicles and vehicles must assume own risk. We advise they not attempt. Personnel is trying to empty out trailer full of extremely heavy rolls of paper. Roadway closed coming out of Sanderson as well as at the FM 2400 Intersection to keep from adding on to the long line of 18 wheelers waiting to get through at the wreck scene. Just south of Ft.Stockton there is a road closure detouring traffic back into town and or giving them advice on what other roads they can take to get to their destinations. Wrecker service got to the scene at 1 p.m. estimated 4-5 hour time limit on being able to remove truck from the driving lanes.
