HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Opponents of Pennsylvania's new voter identification law are expected to appeal a judge's ruling today allowing the law to take effect.
Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson declined to grant an injunction halting the law, which requires each voter to show a valid photo ID.
Opponents say the law would make voting harder for the elderly, disabled, poor and young adults.
Republicans who control the Legislature and the governor's office say they think it'll prevent voter fraud.
