Odessa, TX – Melissa Harris dedicates her life to rescue abused dogs like Faith, who she found this morning dumped on the side of the road and left to die.

Faith is barley able to walk or eat after being used as bait in a dog fight.

"She's just a baby. They have bred her to death and baited her… and she just really in bad shape and it's not fair. She's just a baby (cries) I'm so sorry"

The dog is severely malnourished and tick-infested.

"In the baiting of the dogs, you find dogs on the side of the road that have been baited, with tape around their mouth that are just like Faith. Just wounds all over them"

Bait dogs are tied up with duck tape around their mouths and bodies and thrown in a ring to train other dogs to kill. A white strip that runs across Faith's belly is from duck tape ripped off, ripping off her hair and parts of her skin. Harris says this is the 10th bait dog she's saved in West Odessa.

"They do not have any compassion for anyone but themselves. The people that are fighting these dogs, my main message to them is, there is a special place in hell for them"

She says she's contacted law enforcement several times and they still have not stopped dog fighting in West Odessa.

She says they need crack down on dog fighters to keep other dogs from being tortured like Faith.
