Fort Stockton, TX - Officials in Fort Stockton say recent rains are making a huge crack in the ground that's threatening the main water line even bigger.
Officials with the Middle Pecos Groundwater District tell us the recent rainfall in Fort Stockton over the past week has caused this crack to grow even worse.
The ground near their main water line started cracking a couple of weeks ago and could hurt the infrastructure, so this new development, officials say, is not good news.
The crevices are also causing damage to the nearby county roads.
Officials believe drought conditions and the difference of soil caused the ground to separate.
They are working to find solutions and better understand how bad the eroding is.
