West Texas – It's hard to miss all the construction sites around the Permian Basin and many have you have asked us, what's coming to your neighborhood. Construction everywhere you turn, new shopping and dining opportunities will soon open their doors to Midlanders.

"It's an excellent time, vibrant time and we are excited and we hope Midlanders are excited," said Persephone Dakopolos, Public Information Officer, City of Midland.

And major chains are bringing their business to Midland.

"We're getting attention from national chains, these are stable companies and we love our local businesses but this only adds to their success," said Dakopolos.

Coming soon to the commons shopping center south of the Blue Ridge Apartments is White House, Black Market, Soma, New Balance Shoe store, Versona Accessories and Carter's Children's Clothing. All scheduled to open for shoppers by thanksgiving. Just down the loop in the old Mervyn's building, T.J. Maxx is moving in and is expected to open this fall and in the old Circuit City, Haverty's Furniture Store will be open for business this October.

Heading over to the Walmart parking lot off Midland Drive, Chinese restaurant, Panda Express will begin serving in October. Moving downtown, Basin Burger off Louisiana and Colorado is scheduled to be grilling by October and a new upscale bar and appetizer lounge called "Brass Munky" on the corner of Colorado and Ohio will be opening their doors by the end of the year.

City officials say these new opportunities will enhance the community and help keep people in the Tall City.

"We want them to be happy, we want to offer them what they want in Midland so they're not leaving Midland," said Dakopolos.
