Engineering Project Road Closures and Traffic Alerts

The City of Midland Engineering Services Department has the following projects under construction. Road closures and traffic alerts for each project are listed below:

Lamesa Road Water Main Replacement

The Contractor working for the City of Midland will begin the water main replacement from the intersection of Lamesa Rd. and Golf Course Rd. east to Carver St. starting July 15, 2012. The water main in Lamesa Rd. between Dormard Ave. and Walnut Ln. is complete and traffic is open in all directions. The City of Midland Transportation Division crews will continue making repairs to the utility cuts along Lamesa Rd.



Ward Street Bridge Reconstruction

The contractor for the City of Midland will have Ward Street closed between Fairfax Court/ Durant Drive and Inwood Court. North/ South traffic will be required to take Garfield Street or Midkiff Road. Construction is anticipated to be complete by September 1, 2012.





Sparks Park Target Area Utility Improvements



The contractor for the City of Midland has completed installing the new water and wastewater mains in the Sparks Park Target Area. Jax Ave. is closed from Jackson St. to Tilden St.



Wall St. Pavement Repair

The 1300 block of Wall St. will remain closed while the Transportation Division repairs pavement damaged from a water main break. Progress has been delayed due to heavy rain. All homes and properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.



Texas Department of Transportation District Seal Coat Project

The contractor for the Texas Department of Transportation is currently seal coating throughout Midland County. Please use caution and obey traffic control devices in the construction zone. For information, call Gene Powell (432)498-4746.
