Odessa, TX – CASA of West Texas says they are in a crisis, Spread thin because of a lack of volunteers.
The volunteers serve as advocates for abused and neglected children in court in an effort to find each child a safe, nurturing, permanent home.
CASA says last year in Howard County they served more than 100 children but currently only have 15 volunteers for that area, meaning the employees step in as advocates in their place.
The shortage has even forced the organization to decline some court appointments.
The next volunteer training will start on July 17th and runs through the 26th. Each volunteer needs 30 hours of training. For more information call 432-683-1114.
