Odessa, TX – West Texas officials say “The United Cause” is a money scheme spreading across the Permian Basin. “The United Cause” jugs can be found in many businesses in Odessa.
The organization is based out of San Antonio and states on the jugs that they give the money to other local charities.
When we called The United Cause, they stated the money goes to paying for mortgages and various bills of families that have had sick children.
Andrews Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Julia Wallace says this is a scheme that has returned to the Permian Basin many times.
The Andrews Police department is asking people to take the jugs out of their stores and donate the money directly to a charity.
