Odessa, Texas- Odessa Boys and Girls Clubs' Woodson and Wilkerson facilities lack of properly functioning air conditioning units is standing in the way of their summer activities.
Both clubs are at full capacity and have to shut down several activities for children because poorly functioning AC. Boys and Girls Club executive director David Chancellor said they are trying to raise money for new air conditioning units.
“When temperatures hit 100, we have to reduce activities because it gets so hot,” stated Chancellor.
Currently they have an evaporative cooling system. These units break down frequently and are inadequate when temperatures rise. Chancellor said 4,000 square feet of the Woodson facility is considered unusable space because of the current cooling system.
They need around $20,000 to provide air conditioning units at the Woodson facility.
