Evading in a Motor Vehicle
On June 15th 2012, at 10:29 p.m. Midland Police were patrolling in the 5900 block of W. Highway 80 in Midland, Midland County when they observed a white 2001 Dodge Ram P/U fail to signal intent to turn. Based on this traffic violation, and information being relayed from MPD Narcotic Detectives, Police attempted to detain said vehicle and its occupants. After activating the patrol vehicles emergency lights, the driver of the white Dodge choose to resist the Officer’s lawful attempts at detention. Subsequently, a vehicle pursuit ensued. This pursuit traveled westbound on Highway 80 until it intersects with SH 1788. At this point the vehicle was detained and a felony stop was conducted. After detaining the occupants of the vehicle the driver was identified as Juan Ibarra, age 31. Investigation revealed that Mr. Ibarra had two (2) outstanding parole warrants and an unknown amount of narcotics inside of the vehicle. Said narcotics were turned over to previously mentioned detectives and Mr. Ibarra was arrested for evading in a motor vehicle (enhanced), his two outstanding felony warrants, and endangering a child (a minor was a passenger in the vehicle throughout the incident).
