North Texas Shooting Suspect Dead of Police Bullet 6/12/12

IRVING, Texas (AP) - Police have fatally shot a 31-year-old man suspected of shooting and wounding another man at a swimming pool in the suburban Dallas apartment complex.

The incident happened about 1 a.m. Tuesday at an Irving apartment complex about a quarter-mile east of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. An Irving police statement says officers shot and killed Rusty Edwards of Irving. That's after confronting the man in front of his apartment as he raised and pointed an assault-style rifle at the officers.

Police say the man was suspected of shooting another man in the shoulder at a swimming pool party after the victim told the gunman to take his gun home. The police statement says the man 31-year-old victim was in good condition at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. His identity wasn't released.
