Odessa, TX - Prices at the pump are fueling many west Texans’ frustrations and emptying their wallets as well. Some say it’s even holding them back for Memorial Day celebrations.
“I’m working all weekend, but I couldn’t go out of town with the gas prices the way they are … even if I wasn’t working,” said Odessa resident Marie Anderegg.
Midland and Odessa have some of the highest gas prices in west Texas. But many financial experts believe having high gas prices isn’t necessarily a bad thing - instead it’s a sign of a successful economy.
“We have a stronger demand for gasoline here. The other side of that, that means the economy is strong. We have the strongest economy in the nation. So were going to have the strongest gasoline prices because of that,” Founder and Managing Partner of Cargile Investment Management, Mickey Cargile.
He stated that Memorial Day holiday is one of the peak driving times and prices should decline soon.
