Andrews, Texas – A decision on listing of the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard on the Endangered Species list is inching closer. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has until December 16th to make a decision. Despite efforts to complete a petition that would require the White House to review the listing, the petition is no gaining the expected speed.

Andrews Chamber of Commerce started the petition that requires 5,000 signatures, however today is the last day for to collect signatures and the petition only has about 1,700.

The Chamber tells CBS 7 that they are very discouraged with the response and feel that people do not understand the severity of the situation and the impact the listing could have on the local economy.
