On Veteran's Day we told you Senator John Cornyn introduced a bill to rename the Big Spring VA Medical Center after a Big Spring man and now Congressman Randy Neugebauer has done the same.
A movement has been ongoing since Veteran's Day 2008 to have the facility named after the late George O'Brien Junior.
He was a Big Spring resident who served during the Korean War and was wounded in a battle but rather than leave his men to get treatment, he stayed until the fight was over, saving countless men.
His actions earned him the Medal of Honor and a statue was unveiled in 2008 in his honor.
Now that both the U.S. House and Senate have the bills, VA Medical Officials hope both will pass soon and the facility could be renamed next year.
O'Brien died in 2005.
