Seven families in west Texas have a big reason to celebrate.
Friday was National Adoption Day in Midland County.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Horseshoe Arena to support the families as the finalize their adoptions.
Judge Sylvia Chavez presided over the emotional ceremony, which allows these foster families to become "forever families.”
New mom Kristy Chiuswa tells us, “Now he's finally our son. It's our first son. We do not have any children. We're overwhelmed.”
Wesley Allen Curry, a young man who was adopted says, “It's amazing. It's just great to be adopted. I'm going to have a wonderful life.”
"National Adoption Day" included cake, cookies and games.
More than 6,000 children remain in state custody waiting to be adopted.
