HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Gov. Rick Perry declined to stop the execution of condemned inmate Robert Lee Thompson, who was put to death last night. Thompson was executed for his role in a 1996 store holdup that left a clerk dead. Thompson, who wasn't the shooter, became the 23rd Texas death row inmate to have the penalty carried out this year.
