Horse Abuse and Neglect in Ector County 11/18/09

Odessa, Texas - Odessa Animal Control officials are sending out a warning for livestock owners.
Neglecting your animals is illegal.
So far this year, investigators have seen 16 cases of horse abuse in Ector County involving 22 horses.
Eight horses were placed in better homes.
Two had to be euthanized.
Neglecting to provide food, water, and medical care for animals is a class "A" misdemeanor with a fine of up to $400 dollars and up to a year in jail.
