Odessa, TX - Taxpayers may be footing the bill to decide whether or not the death penalty case for a man accused of killing three Odessa police officers, will be moved from Ector County.
That’s according to Larry White's defense attorneys quoted in an article in the Odessa American.
White is charged with three counts of capital murder for the September 2007 shootings of three Odessa police officers, Abel Marquez, Arlie Jones and Scott Gardner.
White’s attorneys have asked the judge to authorize a public opinion poll as to whether or not citizens believe White could receive a fair trial here, citing the publicity surrounding the story, and fundraising efforts by the p-d for the officers' memorial.
A 60-day continuance has also been granted due to White's medical complications for the trial, which was to begin January 11th of next year.
