Howard County Health Center Finds Home 11/6/09

A partnership has helped the proposed Howard County Health Center find a site after more than a year of searching.
Today Project Director Ann Farley announced a partnership with Hospitality House and they will renovate and move into part of the former Mountain View Lodge Nursing Home on Virginia Street just south of FM 700.
Renovation work has not yet started but once opened, the center will provide affordable health care to county residents who otherwise might have gone without the basics.
Hospitality House recently acquired the old nursing home property and will donate two wings so that the health center can get going.
Farley says finding a site is only the first hurdle to clear.
"We'll it's been a long journey and I don't even know if I could say 'we're halfway there yet,' but of course there's been kind of bits and spurts... the thing that drives us is the need in the community."
Once opened the center could create anywhere from 5 to 20 more jobs.
Hospitality House provides lodging and ministers for families visiting loved ones in prison.
