Alleged Kidnapper Now Facing Charges 10/29/09

Lea County, New Mexico - A Tulia man, who shot himself in Lea County yesterday, is now facing charges of aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping.
Authorities say it all began tesday night, when this man, 57-year-old Ronnie Joe Stowers, took his estranged girlfriend from her home in Castro County.
The two drove all night. Officials in Lea County, New Mexico say they found the two just after 8:00 AM the next morning, when Stowers released the woman before shooting himself in the chest.
Stowers remains in critical condition at a Lubbock hospital, where he was transferred for treatment.
