Andrews - Waste Control Specialists in Andrews has started treatment on more shipments of radio active wastes.
The facility has been disposing of waste from New York's Hudson River and uranium-ore from the Congo.
The low-levels of radio-active materials are monitored very closely each day, and the Texas Commision on Environmental Quality checks-up on the site monthly.
“There's a lot of research done with radio-active materials like cancer or other items. Without a facility like this those projects may slow down or stop all together, “ said Rod Baltzer President of Waste Control Specialists.
Bonds to help fund an expansion to the facilty have yet to be distributed.
Andrews county residents passed the bond by only three votes back in January, and the vote is still tied up in the appeals court.
