Odessa, Texas -
Texas Tech University is not purchasing cats from Odessa Animal Control so far this year for experiments.
The Odessa Police Department says their policy of selling cats to the university for use in medical experiments has not changed.
However, according to PETA, the organization fiercely protesting the use of cats by Texas Tech, the University usually purchases their cats from Odessa by this time of year.
PETA believes Texas Tech may be switching to manikins for their experiments instead of cats.
The organization is filing requests for information from the Odessa Animal Control to gather more details.
