Satterwhite Sworn as Judge of the 441st Judicial District Court 10/12/09

Midland, Texas - Rodney W. Satterwhite was sworn as Judge of the 441st Judicial District Court by Judge John G. Hyde, Judge of the 238th Judicial District Court, in the Midland County Courthouse. Judge Dean Rucker, Judge of the 318th Judicial District Court, conducted the ceremony. Governor Perry appointed Judge Satterwhite to the position in August 2009.
At the ceremony, Judge Satterwhite announced that he would be a candidate for Judge of the 441st Judicial District Court in the March 2010 Republican primary and November 2010 general election. He has appointed his Campaign Steering Committee, consisting of Mike Stoltz, Terry Rhoads, Tevis Herd, Harper Estes, Jad Davis, Jose Cuevas, Michelle Brock, Grant Billingsley, and Campaign Treasurer, Richard McMillan.
Satterwhite, a long time resident of Midland, Texas, attended Midland High School, graduating in 1961. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Judge Satterwhite attended the University of Texas School of Law, graduating in January 1969.
After graduating from law school, Satterwhite was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and trained at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He was subsequently assigned as the Chief Military Justice, 13th Support Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas. In 1970, Judge Satterwhite served in Vietnam as the Chief Military Justice for the II Field Force Artillery Brigade. After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Army in February 1971, Judge Satterwhite joined the Midland law firm of Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder, Inc., where he practiced law for over 38 years. He served as president of the law firm from 1985 to 2005. During his career, he handled business litigation, including commercial oil & gas contract disputes, royalty owner disputes, spill remediation, pipeline condemnations; estate and guardianship litigation; and defense of personal injury cases.
Judge Satterwhite has served as one of Texas’ commissioners to the National Conference on Uniform State Laws for 18 years, beginning in 1990 when Governor William P. Clements first appointed him. He was reappointed by Governor George W. Bush, and subsequently by Governor Rick Perry.
Satterwhite is married to Midland native Linda Latham Satterwhite. They have two grown children and six grandchildren.
