Krista Escamilla
Anchor/Reporter
Krista Escamilla is an Associated Press Award winning journalist for her spot coverage of two major West Texas news stories, the search for Little Destiny and the Alon Refinery Explosion. In 2010, Krista was recognized for fair and balanced reporting by the Midland Independent School District and honored by the state of Texas as a member of the Media Honor Roll. She is also involved with various organizations serving as emcee for Odessa Links, Midland Police Department, Bynum School and the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center.
Since graduating from California State University of Sacramento, Krista worked in television news in Sacramento, Tampa and St. Joseph, Missouri. She began anchoring the morning/noon news for CBS7 in 2006. "I like morning news because it gives me a chance to share the latest news that will impact your day and have fun at the same time. The hours are tough but it gives me more "mom time" with my FOUR kids when I get off work." She feels privileged to be working at CBS7 among such talented and kindhearted people, plus Greg Morgan makes her laugh.
Krista grew up in the entertainment world as a singer, dancer and model. Some of her works include Esprit Modeling, Elyce designs, Cellular One and Maers T.V. Krista's dream to compete in the Miss America Scholarship Pageant came true when she won the Miss Napa County and Miss San Francisco titles, allowing her to pay for her college through scholarship money. Her experience on stage continued as a professional performer as the dancer/lead acrobat for the San Francisco Opera and lead singer/dancer at Six Flags Amusement Park. Krista graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Communication. Krista followed her passion for news and moved to the Midland/Odessa area in 1998 where she met her husband. As a mother of four, Krista devotes her spare time to her children but loves an occasional session of yoga, running and golf.
Krista looks forward to waking up each morning bringing you important news that happens overnight, consumer information for your family and help start your day off with a smile.
